BLOEDEL RESERVE CREATIVE RESIDENCY
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WA

The mission of Bloedel Reserve’s Residency Program is to foster creative thinking inspired by nature and to explore the connection between humans and the environment.

Open to professional and emerging artists, composers, writers, botanists, landscape architects, researchers, and others exploring the themes of nature and the human connection with nature, the Creative Residency at Bloedel Reserve offers Residents a three week stay at a 140-acre internationally renowned public garden and forest preserve.

Creative Residents are housed in a small home off the main paths, hidden in the woods. The home is furnished, including bed and bath linens, shampoo, etc. The kitchen is stocked with essentials such as cookware, spices, and tea. Wi-Fi and laundry facilities are available in the home. Residents are responsible for their own meals. There is a smart car available for Residents’ use. In 2026, Domestic Residents will receive a $1,000 stipend in support of their Residency. International Residents may submit up to $1,000 of expenses for reimbursement.

 

McCOLL CENTER ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE
CHARLOTTE, NC

McColl Center's Artist-in-Residence Program is an internationally acclaimed program that serves as a catalyst for artistic growth for emerging and mid-career artists. We offer flexible residency terms throughout the year, with a dedicated summer session for parents and/or educators. During our annual application period, artists can indicate their preferred dates and duration, allowing for curated cohorts and adaptable residency lengths that meet their needs.

Artists-in-Residence receive private housing adjacent to McColl Center, a large-scale private studio in our historic building in Uptown Charlotte, curatorial guidance, marketing and PR support, and a generous stipend. While in residency, our artists have the freedom to fully focus on artistic research, exploration, and creation while also engaging with McColl Center’s Igniters community and the Charlotte-based creative sector. While in residence, artists also have access to our shared labs and studios including:

  • 3D Lab (3D printer and laser cutter)

  • Ceramics + Sculpture Studio

  • Darkroom

  • Media Lab with a large-scale printer

  • Woodshop

Artists-in-Residence participate in a group exhibition and lead one to two community engagements centered around their practice.

While McColl Center has proudly supported international artists, our current residency programs are limited to artists who reside in the United States. This temporary shift allows us to ensure a more equitable, secure, and supportive experience for all participating artists. We look forward to welcoming international artists again in the future.

 

HENRY L. ND NATALIE E. FREUND TEACHING FELLOWSHIP

ST. LOUIS, MO

DEADLINE: 9/1/2025

GRANT: $45,000

Established in 1986, the Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Teaching Fellowship promotes the exhibition of contemporary art at the Saint Louis Art Museum, as well as the teaching of art in the Sam Fox School at WashU.

The fellowship offers emerging and mid-career artists a $45,000 teaching award, studio space, access to the Sam Fox School’s facilities and making spaces, and a solo exhibition at Saint Louis Art Museum.

The fellowship centers around two core components — teaching in the College of Art and producing work for a solo exhibition for the Saint Louis Art Museum’s Currents series.

Teaching Fellows receive a $45,000 teaching award (inclusive of flights, car rental, lodging, food, etc.) and are in residence at WashU for the fall semester. During this time, they teach one class of their design in the College of Art and do individual studio visits with graduate students.

 

VISARTS – FLUER AND CHARLES BRESLER

ROCKVILLE, MD

In honor of patrons Fleur and Charles Bresler, VisArts invites applications and proposals from artists for a four-month residency.

The Bresler Residency provides dynamic individual artists or collaborative artist teams the gift of time, space, and financial support, along with a unique opportunity to experiment, create a new body of work, evolve an existing body of work, or develop a project in a stimulating, supportive environment.

We offer three four-month Bresler Residencies each year, which include a free studio, $2,000 stipend, and a culminating solo exhibition by each Bresler Resident.

 

ERIE CANAL MUSEUM ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE

SYRACUSE, NY

DEADLINE: 9/7/2025

GRANT: $10,000 + $2,000 BUDGET

In partnership with the New York State Canal Corporation (Canal Corp.), the Erie Canal Museum is seeking two (2) Erie Canal Artists-in-Residence for a period of one (1) year. The Erie Canal Museum is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We strongly encourage members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply.

The Residencies will focus on a year-long creative inquiry into the Erie Canal, reflecting on its past, contemplating its current condition, and considering its future. These Residencies are for Artists who wish to engage with the Canal and adjacent Canalway Trails, Canal Corp. and Museum staff, Canal facilities, New York’s Canal communities, and Canal visitors.  

The 2026 Residencies will be dedicated to projects that reflect upon the Canal’s physical, environmental, and social condition and history; materiality; and context.  The Artist’s project must directly address the Canal.

 

LEITRIM SCULPTURE CENTER – ARTISTS EXHIBITION RESIDENCY

MANORHAMILTON, IRELAND

DEADLINE: 9/7/2025

GRANT: €4,000

 

Leitrim Sculpture Centre in association with Leitrim County Council is offering four Exhibition Residencies to visual artists during 2026. Each residency takes place at the Sculpture Centre and includes an artist’s fee of €4,000 inclusive. The residency comes with a one-person exhibition at the end of the residency period and includes accommodation in a private studio apartment with broadband; access to all facilities at the Centre along with technical and curatorial support. The period of residency is for a max of 8 weeks. Up to 2 residencies will be provided to artists based in Leitrim. At least 2 residencies will be offered to artists from elsewhere nationally or internationally including artists from ethnic minority or migrant backgrounds.

 

MAK-SCHINDLER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

LOS ANGELES, CA

DEADLINE: 9/9/2025

GRANT: $1,500

The Austrian Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture and Sport – Arts and Culture Section, together with the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna, is awarding a total of six fellowships for 2026/2027 to four freelance artists and two architecture students (second semester) and graduates of the architecture program immediately after graduation at the Mackey Apartments, Los Angeles.

Offering long-term support to projects working at the intersection of architecture and the visual arts, the residency aims to create new interdisciplinary opportunities and confrontations. The residency culminates in a final group project presentation at the Mackey Apartments Garage Top. Initiated in October 1995, an international jury convenes in Vienna each spring to select up to eight projects as well as two alternates per group. To date, the MAK Center has hosted more than 50 groups of international residents. This unique program is funded by the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport, in cooperation with the MAK — Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna.


MacDOWELL FELLOWSHIP

PETERBOROUGH, NH

About 300 artists in seven disciplines are awarded Fellowships each year and the sole criterion for acceptance is artistic excellence. There are no residency fees, and need-based stipends and travel reimbursement grants are available to open the residency to the broadest possible community of artists.

MacDowell encourages applications from artists of all backgrounds and all countries in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theatre, and visual arts. Any applicant whose proposed project does not fall clearly within one of these artistic disciplines should contact the admissions department for guidance. We aim to be inclusive, not exclusive in our admissions process.

Those who arrive for a residency with intentionality, frequently enter a period of intense productivity and in many cases have a transformative experience. That said, in our most recent application cycles, we’ve seen a very large number of talented and worthy artists, making for a very competitive field.

 

 VIRGINIA CENTER FOR CREATIVE ARTS – FELLOWSHIPS

AMHERST, VA

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, VCCA is proud to offer a rotating selection of fully-funded fellowships at each of our three annual application deadlines (January 15, May 15, and September 15).

At each deadline, applicants will be considered for a VCCA residency and as many fully-funded fellowships for which they are eligible; only one application with a single application fee is required per deadline.

 

HAMBRIDGE RESIDENCIES

RABUN GAP, GA

DEADLINE: 9/15/2025

GRANT: $700

The Hambidge Center is situated on 600 forested acres in the mountains of north Georgia and offers miles of nature trails, meadows, waterfalls, a swimming hole and an abundance of wildflowers.

The oldest residency program in the Southeast, Hambidge provides a self-directed program that honors the creative process and trusts individuals to know what they need to cultivate their talent, whether it’s to work and produce, to think, to experiment or to rejuvenate. Residents’ time is their own; there are no workshops, critiques, nor required activities.

Each resident is given their own private studio which provides work and living space with a bathroom and full kitchen. The studios are designed to protect residents’ time, space and solitude.

 

FLEETSTREET THEATRE – RESIDENCY

HAMBURG, GERMANY

DEADLINE: 9/15/2025

GRANT: €1,000/WK

Since January 1, 2011, the Fleetstreet Theater Hamburg, together with the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the Hamburg Cultural Foundation, and the Rudolf Augstein Foundation, has been launching a residency program for artist groups that work across disciplines, using the performing arts, visual arts, film, and/or music.

The Fleetstreet Residency program is designed to support young groups with manageable financial resources to develop productions suitable for smaller theater spaces. The funding also provides opportunities to deepen research, test new strategies, and develop work processes. The final presentations can take the form of showings, interim presentations, discussions, exhibitions, workshops, or similar, and do not necessarily have to be performed as a finished production.

The groups will be provided with the Fleetstreet Theater in Hamburg and a residential studio (three rooms, kitchen, and bathroom) in the immediate vicinity of the theater for a period of one to three months. In addition, the artists will receive funding from the Hamburg Cultural Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Media, and the Rudolf Augstein Foundation in the amount of €1,000 each per month to cover the costs of implementing and presenting their project (a total of €3,000 per month is available to the artists or group). Funding from these foundations is not required.

 

MONSON ARTS’ RESIDENCY PROGRAM

MONSON, ME

DEADLINE: 9/15/2025

Monson Arts’ residency program supports emerging and established artists and writers by providing them time and space to devote to their creative practices. During each of our 2-week and 4-week programs throughout the year, a cohort of 5 artists and 5 writers are invited to immerse themselves in small town life at the edge of Maine’s North Woods and focus intensely on their work within a creative and inspiring environment. They receive a private studio, private bedroom in shared housing, all meals, and $500 stipend ($250 for 2-week programs)

 

COLLAR WORKS – ELIZABETH MURRAY ARTIST RESIDENCY

TROY, NY

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency (EMAR) program by Collar Works is designed to provide emerging, underrepresented, and established artists an immersive, supportive, productive, and communal atmosphere for art-making and dialogue on a bucolic 77-acre farm in Granville, NY.

The summer residency offers 2-week residencies for individual artists and 1-week residencies for families. In 2017, the Murray-Holman family partnered with Collar Works to design a summer residency program for visual artists, with unique opportunities for individuals and families.

Our goal is to create a residency program that addresses the critical needs of emerging and underrepresented artists, as well as artists with children, while offering a program that reflects the rich cultural environment of today through an active commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion. Since its inception, the Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency has been committed to creating an environment that stands out as a safe space for creative risk-taking, personal growth, and respite.

 

VERMONT STUDIO CENTER

JOHNSON, VT

DEADLINE: 9/30/2025

VSC’s residency program welcomes artists and writers working across all mediums and genres for two, three, and four week sessions.

Residents enjoy well-lit, private studios within a short walk to residency housing, dining hall, and local amenities. Studio spaces range from 170 - 300 square feet. Accommodations include a private room and shared common areas. The campus features include a print shop, digital lab, and metal, wood, ceramic facility. Studios are open 24 hours a day.

A VSC residency provides artists and writers the time and space to focus on their creative practice in an inclusive, international community within a small Vermont village. Residents can explore swimming holes, hiking and biking trails, as well as the rural charm of neighboring towns, while expanding their creative potential and building a solid network of friends and mentors.

 

RECYCLED ARTIST IN RESIDENCY

PHILADELPHIA, PA

DEADLINE: 9/30/2025

GRANT: $1,000

RAIR has 2 residency programs: THE STANDARD RESIDENCY and THE BIGGIE SHORTIE. Both are given access to Revolution Recovery’s waste stream as well as access to RAIR’s staff- who work closely with all residents.

THE STANDARD RESIDENCY:  a longer, more traditional studio based program. Standard residents are given access to waste materials and a studio and project space during the week and weekends. This residency is good for people who want to dedicate 4-6 full weeks to their project and studio practice as RAIR.

THE BIGGIE SHORTIE: a shorter length, project based residency that takes place mainly on weekends typically outside of the recycling facilities operating hours. The flexible nature of Biggie Shorties allow for proposed projects to be customized to fit each residency. This residency is good for artist with commitments during the weeks and can only be present at RAIR during the weekends.

 

500 CAPP STREET ARTIST RESIDENCY

SAN FRANSICO, CA

DEADLINE: 9/30/2025

GRANT: $2,500 + $10,000 budget

500 Capp Street is pleased to announce the yearly open call for an Artist Residency.  The 2025-2026 Artist Residency at 500 Capp Street will be an open call to international and U.S. based artists with generous multi-year support from the Sanger Family FoundationInternational artists are extremely encouraged to apply. 

This 2 month residency program at 500 Capp Street in San Francisco, CA will begin in the Spring of 2026 and end in Summer of 2026.  Artists will have two months for research, which will culminate in a 2 month exhibition after the research period ends.  This year’s program will highlight the conceptual, and urges artists to create work that pushes the boundaries of material and medium. We are especially interested in artists working with sculpture, and artists who support David Ireland’s artistic philosophies. The residency is intended to give creative space for developing an idea, and executing it for exhibition purposes. The Application process runs from August 11- September 30th, 2025. The next resident/s (solo, collaborative or collective)  will be announced on the 20th of November 2025.
