The Camargo Foundation’s pluralistic approach prioritizes artistic freedom and intellectual discourse. The Camargo Foundation experiments with various ways of developing residencies and public programs that support adventurous, collaborative art making, and rigorous dialogue on the pressing issues of our time.
Since 1971, the Camargo Foundation has awarded residencies to more than 1,500 individuals through its flagship program. The Camargo Fellowship offers 10-week residencies for research, experimentation and reflection. These residencies are open to established or mid-career artists, scholars and thinkers from diverse backgrounds.
Please note that this year’s open call will, until further notice, be the last one open to the public. Beginning in July 2027, the Camargo Foundation will implement a new selection process that will no longer be based on a public open call.
COLLAR WORKS - ELIZABETH MURRAY ARTIST RESIDENCY

The Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency (EMAR) program by Collar Works is designed to provide emerging, underrepresented, and established artists an immersive, supportive, productive, and communal atmosphere for artmaking and dialogue on a bucolic 77-acre historic farm in Washington County, New York.
EMAR offers 2-week residencies for individual artists and 1 week residencies for families, as well as other opportunities throughout the year for artists and partnered arts collectives.
COLD SPRING HARBOR LABRATORY - GILBERT ARTIST IN RESIDENCY
COLD SPRING HARBOR, NY

The Center for Humanities and History of Modern Biology at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is pleased to announce the Celia and Wally Gilbert Artist-in-Residence Award for artists, composers, writers, and designers. The Artist-in-Residence will reside at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory from one to three weeks, with room and board fully covered. An honorarium of $1,000, $1,200 or $1,500 will be given, based upon the length of stay.
One-week to three-week residency at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory for selected participants—artists, filmmakers, poets, composers, illustrators, or designers.
Opportunity to interact with our Library and Archives staff, CSHL scientists, and attendees at CSHL scientific meetings.
Discussion, collaboration, and exchange of ideas between visiting participants and our resident scientists.
Exploration of new areas of artistic inspiration, using our diverse resources to conceive new ideas for projects and assemble the requisite information for planned projects.
The artist-in-residence will create at least one work that will be displayed or presented at a public event at CSHL and on CSHL’s website within a year of receiving the award.
MILLAY ARTS -CORE RESIDENCY

Our historic Core Residency, offered to those selected by our blind jury process, is fully-subsidized. If invited to participate, the only fee is a $100 nonrefundable deposit.
The core residency features a creative cohort of 6-7 multidisciplinary artists, selected through our blind jury process, and includes private bedroom and studio (with bedding/linens), shared living spaces, laundry room, B&W darkroom, and access to Millay facilties.
Groceries and communal dinners provided (prepared by our in-house chef).
As an Artist-in-Residence, it is our hope that your participation as an integral member of a small, supportive and inspirational cohort will forge lifelong friendships as well as professional relationships and future collaborations.
NEIMËNSTER - EMBELLIE RESIDENCY

The 2027 edition of ‘Embellie’ celebrates the coming together of generations. How do we live, eat, share stories, celebrate, laugh and cry together? What can we learn from our elders, our peers and the younger generation? How can previous or future generations influence our understanding of the world, art, our heritage and our culture? How are different generations encouraged to engage in dialogue with one another? How can we rethink the way we live together?
‘Embellie’ is a celebration of artists in residence, spanning the visual arts to the performing arts, including music, dance, literature, and theatre. We invite artists from all disciplines to present their vision of this intergenerational encounter during a two-week residency in February at neimënster.
CABIN
POSTDAM, NY

Set in the historic riverside village of Potsdam, New York, at the foothills of the Adirondacks, CABIN is a place for artistic and creative development. Rooted in a town shaped by long-standing educational institutions, the residency offers time, space, and community structure.
Residents share a 6,000 sq ft, two-floor space, including a 3,000 sf ft studio and a series of gathering areas. Each cohort is intentionally composed. Participants are selected in relation to one another, forming a group shaped by dialogue, exchange, and mutual influence, culminating in a final exhibition.
VILLA BELLEVILLE

The AGETA/Curry Vavart association provides artists and collectives with workspaces in buildings that it manages, facilitates, maintains, and secures. As part of the City of Paris's contract for the management and facilitation of the Villa Belleville – Paris Belleville Residences site , AGETA is developing a residency program. AGETA welcomes all disciplines of visual arts and fine crafts. Selected artists receive support tailored to their needs: technical assistance with production, promotion, and distribution.
The artists will benefit from a free individual studio for the entire duration of their residency.
DJERASSI RESIDENT ARTIST PROGRAM
WOODSIDE, CA

The Djerassi Resident Artist Program has awarded over 2700+ writers, visual/media artists, composers, choreographers, filmmakers and scientists for the past 43-years the gift of time and space with a one-month residency on our 583-acre ranch in Northern California's Santa Cruz Mountains.
Residencies are awarded competitively, at no cost, to national and international artists and scientists. Those selected are offered living and studio space for one of the five sessions from mid-February through mid-November.
MAISON DORA MAAR

PEDANTIC ARTS - SUMMER AND FALL 2027 RESIDENCY
PITTSBURGH, PA

Pedantic Arts (Pedantic) is seeking applicants for creatives and researchers to participate in the Summer 2027 and Fall 2027 Terms. Entering our sixth year of operations, Pedantic continues its mission of re-embracing the impact that education, study, and contemplation can have on artistic output by interconnecting creators, organizers, and critics. As the program seeks new residents whose practices engage visual arts, curation, and writing, this unique opportunity invites rich cross-disciplinary dialogue and collective, exploratory immersion within Pittsburgh’s artistic and cultural landscape.
Located in an artistic epicenter of Pittsburgh, residents will spend four weeks housed in a hybrid residential and commercial building in the bustling Garfield neighborhood. As opposed to the typical expectation of output in residency programs, Pedantic emphasizes connections and conversations and is deliberately non-production focused. Each Pedantic resident is paired with a Pittsburgh-based guide working in a similar field who will help.
SKOWHEGAN SUMMER PROGRAM

Skowhegan is a summer art school. We provide an open pedagogical structure in which knowledge and skills are conveyed in a critical, learning-centered manner. We encourage everyone to apply with a spirit of learning, listening and a desire to keep growing in their practices. Our community of participants, faculty, and staff live and work side by side. We emphasize how mutual care can be extended as another artistic practice, requiring daily rehearsals to navigate the possibilities—and also the challenges—inherent to communal living. However, we are a non-degree program outside the traditional academic structure.
Each summer, a group of about sixty emerging artists from around the world and ten resident and visiting faculty artists engage in an experimental framework of learning that promotes the sharing of knowledge and skills between artists. With the aim of encouraging exchange and openness, we provide a transversal and intergenerational environment for production, risk taking, research, conversations, and critical thinking. During the program, each individual’s practice influences the collective endeavor as we explore together what “making” means to artists.
